Product Overview

PLEASE NOTE: we are unable to ship this product internationally.

Tobacco Absolute is a very tenacious, aromatic material that adds warmth, depth and character to natural perfumes, especially masculine and Amber blends when used in very small amounts. It has a woody, mossy, sweet hay-like, warm herbaceous aroma reminiscent – when diluted – of fine pipe tobacco. PLEASE NOTE: While this product is considered 'Nicotine Free' by our manufacturer, it still may contain trace amounts.

Tobacco Absolute can also be a prominent note in a composition, such as the classic perfume Tabac Blond by Caron launched in 1919 that “paid homage to the scandalous bad girls who smoked cigarettes in the 1910s and 1920s”[1]; tobacco-themed fragrances too numerous to count have followed on since then.

Nicotiana tabacum has a history that goes back thousands of years in the cultures of the Native peoples of the Americas – the smoke from the dried leaves was and still is respectfully used, sometimes with other herbs, for spiritual and ceremonial purposes.[2] It appears that it was only after the dried herb became a processed commercial interest that deleterious effects became prevalent.

Although Tobacco Absolute is soluble in alcohol, it is only partially soluble in fixed (carrier) oils.[3] It does impart its aroma to fixed (carrier) oils by gently heating both absolute and carrier oil separately before combining. When cooled, insoluble material will precipitate to the bottom, however the portion remaining will be highly aromatic.

Exceptional

Rating

Easily my favorite of the oils I've sampled. It's a mild-mannered scent, warm and comfortable. My first impression was of honey and chocolate. Finding scents that don't overpower it is difficult, but I've had luck with vanilla, cocoa, balsam, and some florals and citruses.

Cigar shop

Rating

The smell feels like you walked in a cigar shop , or opening a humidor with nice Cubans. Very thick but workable . I learned that just 1 drop can change the smell , to much , people might think you have Cubans in your side pocket . Only thing missing is a fine cognac ( I don't drink alcohol , but this smell has that feeling ) , will have to experiment with this scent.

Special effects

Using this oil reminds me of just how sophisticated a fragrance can become with just the smallest amount. Blended with vanilla, neroli, and ambrette it takes on an intriguing, timeless, and perfectly unisex scent. The effects tobacco abs will have on other oils can never be predicted, but it's almost always a pleasant surprise.

Strong but pleasant

Rating

Like fresh, fine quality tobacco, no dirty ashtray here. Some sweetness reminding me of prune juice, warm herbal/spicy, with a bit of a sharper, almost smoky undertone. Very pleasant in smaller amounts / diluted.

Beautiful, true tobacco.

Rating

So glad when Eden got their tobacco abs back in stock! This is the only tobacco abs I've ever tried, but I love it. I feels it reflects all of the dimensions of tobacco (and the positive images one associates with tobacco). Each whiff starts with a slight animalic funk, but then there's a very full tobacco - warm, rich, and fine, like pipe tobacco, but with the lush, juicy quality of chewing tobacco. Very evocative and warm, masculine and wood-paneled, yet one can't forget that this tobacco is from a plant. Love it. One should definitely evaluate this in dilution, as it's way too much right out of the bottle.
