Product Overview

Our gorgeous Lavender Absolute from France is the ultimate Lavender for use in natural perfumery. It is smooth, suave and luscious and most closely resembles the fresh botanical material, with a coumarin-like sweetness that captures the spirit of those iconic mounds of purple Lavender populating the French countryside. This is a perfumery must-have and a unanimous favorite of Eden’s staff!

Lavender is the most popular and most often used essential oil, particularly here in the United States. It can be blended into many formulas and has been a part of fine fragrances for centuries. Lavender Absolute is a middle note that is sweeter but less floral than Lavender essential oil, however the two together can form a very pleasant combination; it can also be used as a modifier to help mask unpleasant aromas of oils that are used in perfumery formulas. It takes approximately 130 kilos of Lavender flowers to make 1 kilo of Lavender Absolute.[1]

Lavandula angustifolia is the true Lavender, as opposed to Spike Lavender (L. latifolia) or the hybrid Lavandins. It is produced throughout the world, although France is considered the premier growing region, and is the source of our best-selling Lavender essential oils: High Elevation, France - Organic, Maillette, and Wild.

Lavender Absolute? ABSOLUTELY!

Rating

Wow... Just WOW! This is my favorite lavender I have ever smelled. The royal Queen of lavenders! Lavender Absolute? AB-SO-LUTE-LY! This Lavender Absolute smells like Tonka Bean and Lavender together.. like Tonka and Lavender had a kid. The coumarin force is strong with this one! At first sniff it gives a clean BLAST! Floral but not sharp and medicinal smelling like a lot of lavenders our there. I plan to pair this with Vanilla Absolute and again in a "clean," "green" fragrance. I'm really in love with this. Just for reference, my order/batch is deep muddy brown in color. It has slight waxy deposits that have settled at the bottom. I will need to chill filter in alcohol to remove them. If you don't mind the muddiness, or are using a dark bottle this is just fine. The filtering for a clear perfume is worth the effort. What a natural wonder. I am in awe!

The lavender for lavender haters!

Rating

This oil is soooo beautiful! (Please don't ever stop carrying it!) With the exception of sandalwood, I never use a single oil for perfume or diffusing. (Too boring. *lol*) But THIS lavender is something else! I can see why other reviewers who said they don't like lavender like this one, because it really doesn't smell all that much like lavender! The plant itself, nor the EO. It smells very sweet to me, and complex. I LOVE it alone. So much so, that I haven't been able to find anything to put with it that makes it better. The few times I tried blending I only felt remorse that I wasted the oil & made it smell LESS beautiful! *lol* I will definitely be ordering more of this! It makes a beautiful perfume all on it's own!

Coumarin intense.

Rating

This lavender absolute is a coumarin bomb. Overall it comes across as more gourmand than lavender — an herbal/agrestic coumarin — which could make for a more affordable alternative to tonka. Not very green or floral. Nevertheless, assuredly a great fixative for lavender oil, in small proportions. Well over 12 hours performance on skin.

Absolutely LOVE

Rating

Like other reviewers here, I admit I've used Lavender in many of my products because people request it, but I've never really enjoyed it. This absolute is phenomenal! I placed a little diluted on my wrist and can't stop putting my nose to it. So lovely, well rounded, and floral with just a bit of sweetness. So very excited to use this in multiple products. Thanks Eden! One of my new favorites!

Can't do without this one...

This is the perfect lavender for those who think they don't like lavender. ;-) That used to be me. I really do not like the smell of lavender EO, it has just never been an oil that sat right with me nor had a soothing effect on me. I know, I'm probably an odd ball as there are plenty of people who love lavender. This lavender absolute is a DREAM COME TRUE. It has almost a candy like sweetness to it and a lovely floral note that the EO is missing. This is the perfect way to add lavender to blends in natural perfumery. It doesn't go "soapy" or sharp. One of my perfumes features this as a prominent note and time and again people comment on how they can't believe that the lavender isn't soapy or sharp or off-putting. I love it!
