Product Overview

Our organic White Rose Otto is a rare and precious oil that comes from Bulgaria – an area renowned for excellence in Rose oil production – where it has been carefully distilled to capture the bouquet of the fresh white flowers. The aroma is a rich, deep, opulent, and sweet creamy-honeyed Rose, somewhat green, with a light balsamic and pepper/spicy undertone; the smooth green rosiness and subdued spiciness are in perfect balance in the very long drydown. This truly special oil is perfect for rituals, aromatherapy applications, in premium skincare, and for fine perfumery.

Revered for its pure white blossoms and association with the sacred feminine, White Rose Otto is often used in ceremonies to promote love and encourage the metaphorical “opening of the heart.” Known as the oil of love, Rose is highly esteemed for use in spiritual or meditation practice. However you choose to incorporate White Rose Otto into your life, we hope you will savor its rare, complex aroma and superlative benefits.

With their multi-petaled intricacy, it is no surprise that Rose essential oils and absolutes are among the plant essences with the most chemical complexity. And while many of the more than 400 chemical constituents[1] of Rosa damascena are present in mere trace amounts, they contribute immensely to the sublime and nuanced fragrance we know as Rose. Only 1 kilo (2.2 pounds) of Rose Otto is obtained from 4500 kilos (about 9900 pounds) of freshly harvested Rose petals.[2]

"For its perfume, the Rose reigns supreme amongst the flowers of the world."[3] Beloved since ancient times, Homer and Pliny, Ovid and Virgil refer especially to the Rose being esteemed more for its perfume than for its beauty.[4] The first distillation of Rose oil was probably by the Arabs in 500 CE, although ancient drawings show primitive stills as far back as 10,000 BCE.[5] In its more recent history, it is believed by many historians that rose plants were brought to the town of Kazanlak in Bulgaria by a Turkish immigrant to cultivate in his own garden around the time Kazanlak was founded in 1420.

Whether used for aromatherapy, skincare formulations, or in fine perfumery compositions, the comforting and inspiring aroma of White Rose Otto is especially esteemed for promoting spiritual wellbeing, creating a peaceful ambiance, and imbuing an air of luxury.

Incredible

Rating

I bought this oil without a sample and let me just start by saying how this is one blind purchase I will never regret. There's something very clean about the fragrance. I love rose oil for its beautifully loving nurturing supportive aura. This one does all that without being the slightest bit cloying. It is refreshing and joyous and calming and uplifting. If there was ever an EO silver bullet for emotions, this one is it

Exquisite

Rating

I am absolutely bereft that Eden will no longer stock this extraordinary rose oil. It smells like no other. It in fact does not smell overly of rose! But don't let that discourage you, it has a unique and luscious scent profile that takes rose fragrance into new heights. I have been trying to reconstruct this scent so I can keep it with me after it has gone. On the top there is a boozy element - as if you were drinking white rose petal wine, with hints of apple, grape and citrus. At the heart there is a hyacinth aspect- a cool green floral with undertones of lily and dare I say a tiny hint of ginger where you would expect to smell clove. The base is the most sumptuous and velvety Iris, with woody and leafy aspects. In total, it is like a bouquet of flowers mixed with the finest rose, made into wine. Just the most incredible scent. I hope amongst all hopes that Eden realise that rose otto from white roses is not the same as any other, and is worth the extra price, and will search it out for us all to enjoy again. From the oils room: although we have had a supplier issue for this oil, we are working on alternates and plan to have more soon (this was written Jan 2016)

Fresh and beautiful

Rating

This is a beautiful fragrance! I should say the fragrance smells to me like a combination of Lily Absolute, Geranium and a very tiny hint of Rose. Exquisite, delicate, light, I wouldn't call it fresh as in peppermint, but fresh as in garden lily and rose flowers that just opened in the cool spring morning and sprinkled with dew; the color white comes to mind, and also pearls. If royal brides had an aroma, this would be it! Blended beautifully with Jasmine, Neroli Extra and Sandalwood (Hawaii) for a very light, complex and fresh aroma. This fragrance is quite tenacious for being so light and delicate and can overpower your blend, so use very little.

Perfect

Rating

It is perfect. I am in love with it and shall not mix with any other oil. Shall make into perfume solid hoping for it to stay stable. The alternative is to just extend in jojoba. It is sweeter than any other rose essential absolute. Would love it if Eden got the white rose Co2 to see how it compares. Thank you Eden for having this Otto.
