Product Overview

Petitgrain Absolute, extracted from the leaves of the Bitter Orange tree, is a fragrance material that has appeared on the market only in recent years. Ours has a deep, complex, green aroma with notes of citrus zest, citrus blossom and slight woody undertones. Perfumer Mandy Aftel swoons over Petitgrain Absolute, calling it “…mesmerizing… like a green orange, is refreshingly tart, animalic and indolic.”[1]

Along with Neroli (Orange Blossom) oil and absolute and Bitter Orange peel oil, Petitgrain has one of the three important aromas derived from Citrus aurantium var. amara. Much more than a simple leaf aromatic, Petitgrain also ‘borrows’ chemistry from both fruit and flower for its capacity as the ultimate liaison between the lively, terpenic peel ‘top note’ volatiles and the sultry ‘middle note’ floral nuances. Comprised of mostly linalool and linalyl acetate, Petitgrain Absolute has adaptive and enhancing capabilities similar to Lavender Absolute, but with a more fruity/floral and less powdery character. Formulators will enjoy adding this relatively new, powerful green aroma to personal care products and unique perfumery creations.

Nothing else like it

Rating

Possibly the best "green" scent out there for men's cologne and incense making. It's intensely green, floral, and woody, with great aromatic tenacity and potency. A little goes a long way. Mixes great with sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, orris root, oud, ambergris, frankincense, myrrh, labdanum and more. Works on any tier from top to base note. I'm burning incense right now that was made with mysore sandalwood powder and oil, petitgrain absolute, green frankincense, and antique white/gold ambergris tincture with an aloeswood powder coat. The aroma is just divine. I also use it in my Celtic Myst cologne mixed with sandalwood oil, vetiver, patchouli, orris root, oud, antique ambergris and tonquin musk. Really nothing else like it, and a must have for natural perfumery :)

"ABSOLUTE"-LY WONDERFUL

Rating

For me this scent is, and the only way I can label it is...haunting. I'm not one who can describe it like the pros but I would love to totally immerse myself in it. I do plan to use it in some of my own skin and hair care products!

Beautiful

Rating

This is far superior to any conspecific essential oil. Much smoother, greener and more tangy with watery freshness closer in character to citruses (bergamot) than the essential oil, yet deeper and longer lasting. Great combinations with neroli and aromatic herbs. Wonderful stuff.

First dealing with Eden products ordered some petitgrain and OMG this stuff is awesome planning on using it for many things but one thing is a new inffuser pendant. :)
