Product Overview

This exceptional wild grown Frankincense is gathered and distilled in the Sultanate of Oman, an historic region known for producing premium quality Frankincense that many believe to be the best in the world. The aroma is fresh, warm, resinous, and coniferous, with peppery undertones and a top note of orange citrus. It has a fresher, brighter Frankincense aroma than our Frankincense CO2 extracts. Boswellia sacra and other species of Frankincense are noted for the ability to refresh the environment, “clearing the air” both aromatically and energetically, while elevating mind, body and spirit.

Frankincense, along with other prized aromatics, spices, precious stones, rare woods, feathers, animal skins and gold, was transported by caravans on the Incense Route and enjoyed a flourishing trade from Yemen and Oman in the Arabian Peninsula to the Mediterranean for nearly 500 years.[1] Egyptians used Frankincense extensively, and the pharaohs believed that burning it allowed them to commune with the gods. Its Arabic name, Olibanum, is derived from al Luban, which means milk, a reference to the milky sap that exudes from the wound in a tree after an incision is made in the bark. The sap serves a purpose for the tree as it seals the incision from the elements; this exudate forms resinified 'tears' from which Frankincense oils are extracted.[2]

Once a rare and precious commodity used for millennia by many religious, shamanistic and secular cultures, Frankincense oil, like Myrrh, offers many different beneficial possibilities. It is especially valued for use in skincare preparations (with Patchouli or Neroli), in diffusers (with Lemon or Pine), for massage (with Palmarosa or Lavender),[3]  and in meditation blends (with Sandalwood or Orange). Frankincense is legendary in its traditional and sacred uses and its ability to calm and elevate the spirit. [4, 5]

Each Frankincense oil that we offer is of exceptional quality, possessing unique features and characteristics distinct from one another.  From a traditional view, one might choose one of our hydrodistilled Frankincense essential oils, particularly for aromatherapy purposes. For the natural botanical perfumer, our Frankincense CO2 oils offer a more complete aromatic profile with higher, brighter top notes and deeper, more complex bottom notes than distilled Frankincense oils. However, this premium Omani hydrodistillation is quite special, lending its divinely refreshing brightness to both skincare and perfumery creations.

Amazing!

Rating

This is the BEST frankincense I have ever smelled! I love using this stuff on my skin too, makes my skin look great, but I have to dilute it properly! Its strong, pure stuff! Once I tried this, I never bought it again from any other source. Actually need to order some more :D Also, I prefer this to the rare oman because it smells.... more fresh or clean to me than the oman kinda.

A different breed of frankincense,

Rating

Compaired to the other frankincenses I've used from Eden (Love them all!!) I find this one smoother, less spicy/woody, hints of anise but not off putting if anise is something you dislike, a clear /fresh almost watery like nuance with a hint of sweet musk. It's not the frankincense I use the most often (perhaps bc of price, but worth every penny) but it is lovely. As I wrote in another review of the frankincense Somalia CO2, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the frankincense oils offered by Eden, all live up to their descriptions. I think this would make a great meditation oil.

ease your knees...

Rating

The most beautifully tranquil way to massage any aches away, but most noteably, knee joint discomfort...makes for an enjoyable, warming rub mixed with castor bean and argan oils. To be left smelling divine as opposed to medicinal, is sooOo appreciated. Mixes lovely with Eden's Somalian Myrrh. IN LOVE with it in burners and fire pits...thank you Eden•*xOx

True Boswella Sacra scent

Rating

This is a lovely oil. The intensity is perfect for that layer of citrus in a wood blend. Vaporized with Palo Santo they invoke a feeling of calm and well being. As a blend though I prefer it with sandalwood and Cedar at a 8% dilution. You can't go wrong with this. Batches of Sacra resin vary widely in availability and scent. Just let Eden deal with this consistency issue and we can concentrate on using the high quality essential oil.

the Best Frankincense in the World

Rating

This is a very sacred Frankincense. Don't be fooled by various manufacturers using the botanical name of B. Sacra. Only the one from the Oman region exemplifies this divine aroma.
