    Product Overview

Our Nutmeg Absolute has a warm, rich, spicy-sweet, highly aromatic body note with hints of tobacco and cream and a woody drydown that remains warm and sweet. This complex middle note is smoother, rounder, and sweeter than the fresh pungency of our Nutmeg essential oil. In minute amounts, Nutmeg Absolute adds an interesting warmth and richness to floral blends, particularly rose bases, and pairs well with leather and animalic bases, black tea accords, Amber blends, Sandalwood, Oakmoss and Patchouli.

Nutmeg has been highly esteemed since the ancient civilizations of India and Egypt [1] and has a rich history in the spice trade, making it an integral aroma in many cultures.  The nutmeg kernels come from the fruit of a tropical evergreen tree native to the Moluccas (historically known as the Spice Islands) of Indonesia. The trees are now found in various parts of Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, and the Caribbean (especially Grenada).[2,3] Our parent company obtains the dried, ripe kernels from growers in Indonesia and extracts the absolute in our facility in France.

Enlivening and sensual, Nutmeg is used in the perfume industry in “spicy” perfumes, men’s fragrances, after-shaves, and lotions.[3] Nutmeg Absolute can be added in small amounts to massage blends, joint and belly rubs, and fragrant body oils. Candle crafters may appreciate the richness of Nutmeg Absolute in their creations. The aroma encourages an ambiance of peace and comfort.
