Our Exclusive White Sage

Written By: Robin Lander

Herbaceous, evergreen, and robust, White Sage is a force of nature. California's native Salvia apiana is only found growing wild in the southwestern U.S. and northwestern Mexico and is one of the area's most important wild sage species. The aromatic, silvery-leaved shrub with small white flowers is crucial for the healthy habitat of bees and hummingbirds. Our White Sage essential oil comes from lovingly hand-tended plants cultivated and distilled in California on a family-run organic ranch passed down from generation to generation.

While we toured the farm with the founder and she discussed their practices, it became apparent that this team's success comes from communicating with the plants and understanding their rhythm. Successfully growing White Sage requires developing a deep connection that is respectful to the plant and the environment in which it thrives. With the over-harvesting of wild White Sage in California, our producers are doing all they can to help preserve it. Our responsibly sourced White Sage essential oil is a true gift.

White Sage essential oil has a fresh, cooling, and strongly camphoraceous aroma with a mild cineolic note reminiscent of Rosemary. With a constituent profile similar to Rosemary and Eucalyptus, it is beneficial in diffusers or room sprays, massage oils, chest rubs, and skincare preparations. It is an interesting and elevating middle-to-top note in perfumery when added in small amounts to citrus or lavender blends, fougères, evergreen fragrances, and woody or resinous accords.

We wish it wasn’t so, but the truth is well known: Prolonged and cumulative UV exposure can greatly impact our skin’s appearance. Too much time spent unprotected out in the elements can contribute to reduced moisture and elasticity, dark spots, rough texture, and diminished glow.
