Product Overview

Our organic Tulsi Hydrosol is a beautifully gentle way to enjoy the benefits of this potent plant. Tulsi, or Holy Basil, is a sacred plant of India said to bring harmony to the heart and mind. Uniquely green and refreshing Tulsi hydrosol works wonders as an environmental spray for meditation spaces and office clearing, or as a soft, green, herbal and slightly spicy aftershave or non-floral skin tonic, particularly for oily or congested skin.

Packaging Note: Sizes 1 oz through 4 oz are packaged in glass bottles. Larger sizes (8 oz and up) are packaged in BPA free plastic bottles due to seasonal factors. Hydrosols can freeze and expand when temperatures drop which can result in bottle breakage. Likely components of Tulsi (Basil) Hydrosol are 1,8 cineole, eugenol, and linalool, the properties of which are well documented.[1]

Our hydrosols are distilled using fresh plant material that not only allows capture of all the volatiles, but most importantly, the cellular water from the living plant. It is this cellular water, imbued with nourishing minerals and fatty acids, that make it dynamic and vibrant compared to using dried out material with a resulting loss of those important skin-refreshing and aromatic molecules.[2] Aromatic hydrosols contain the water-soluble active principles of the plant. They retain a tiny amount of essential oil compounds (about 0.2 grams/liter)[3] - mostly the gentler, more hydrophilic aromatic oxides and alcohols (like cineole and linalool) - and are subsequently unlikely to cause skin irritation.[4]

The gentleness of hydrosols is ideally suited in the delivery of their attributes for children, the elderly, and those with pronounced sensitivities. They are also a profound and delightful way to experience and appreciate the life force - with all its potentiality for wholeness - found in the aromatic waters of the plants.

PLEASE NOTE: The hydrosols we offer are specifically distilled for the hydrosol, not as a co-product or even a by-product. The plant's cellular water and many components – normally lost under pressurized short steam runs for essential oil, or by using dried material – are what the producers specifically distill for by using only fresh plant material right from their farm or from local farms to ensure that the plant material is as fresh as possible.[5]

Fantastic

Rating

I'm becoming a Tulsi worshiper and hydrosol fanatic. This is amazing. Smells beautiful as the other hydrosols do. Imm hooked. Purchased 1 oz samples and leveling up to 2 oz. Bottles are beautiful and great for traveling. Eden Botanicals is the best quality.

My go to after facial spray

Rating

I have combination oily/dry skin. My T-Zone is notoriously oily- I use this hydrosol to help combat my acne prone skin. It does have a slight bitter green odor- it is not like culinary basil, very different. It's refreshing nonetheless and I have found it really helps with toning, oil balance and keeping my acne at bay. Once a week I use a regimen of steaming my face with four drops of Nialoui oil in a pot of just boiled hot water for 10 minutes. Then I do an exfoliating facial scrub of finely ground black lava salt combined with castor oil (I massage this in for about 5 minutes give or take) I rinse the salt off my skin and then let the castor oil sit for an additional 20 minutes before washing off with soap and water. I follow it up with several great spritzes of this Tulsi baby and I look like a teenager again! Moisturize and TAAAAADAAAA! It's also great for afternoon pick me ups when I have run out of coffee.
