Introducing Wool Absolute – Warm, Comforting, and Sensual

Written By: Robin Lander

Get ready to wrap your formulations in warmth with our new Wool Absolute, a rare and special offering for perfumers, solvent extracted from a by-product of the agricultural industry - sheep's wool collected from healthy, living, farmed sheep. The result is a gorgeous, affordable animalic material that brings unique bucolic facets to your Oud and leather accords, musk bases, chypre, gourmand, floral, and fantasy perfume compositions.

Unexpected and unforgettable, our Wool Absolute is ethanol extracted at our production facility in southern France from the water remaining after the washing of wool. Through this upcycling process, we're able to create an easily accessible, sustainable alternative to animal-derived materials such as deer musk, civet, or castoreum. Niche perfumers take note, you’ll want this intriguing animalic in your palette!

The Scent Profile

Softly stunning and surprisingly smooth, our Wool Absolute has a rich, animalic-musky aroma with notes of sweet dried fruit, resins, and creamy-salicylated warmth along with boozy, fatty, and gourmand nuances. It lends naturalness to a wide variety of aromatic formulations, providing the comforting and sensual intimacy of a musk and the coziness of a shearling coat or fuzzy wool sweater. Wearing close to the skin, the alluring aroma lingers with the kind of tenacity perfumers crave.

Why It Belongs in Your Palette

  • Tips for Formulators

Start with a small amount and build up. Depending on the concentration, Wool Absolute can act as a subtle background texture or a strong, character-defining note. Lower dilutions can suggest a favorite wool sweater warmed by the sun, while higher concentrations can lean more musky and rustic.

    An Animalic Worth Exploring

Wool Absolute elevates an agricultural industry by-product into a versatile aromatic with musk-like effects. It’s an aroma that tells a story, both familiar and primal, weaving warmth, intimacy, and complexity into your blends. For formulators seeking a new animalic note and an evocative material, Wool Absolute is a fascinating addition.
