Product Overview

Our organic Litsea Cubeba (also known as May Chang) has an intense, clean, fresh, sweet-green, lemon-like aroma with light woody-floral undertones – and the aroma lasts for more than 36 hours on a scent strip with a soft, uniform sweet-fruity dry down. Although Litsea Cubeba is a lesser-known essential oil in the modern aromatherapy and perfumery worlds, after sampling this very fine oil, we could not let this aromatic ray of sunshine go unnoticed – we have to extol its beauty.

Litsea Cubeba essential oil is characterized by its high citral content (up to 85%)[1] which accounts for its dominant lemony aroma. It was first distilled in the early 1950s from little berries (fruits) that grow on small tropical evergreen trees native to China, Indonesia and other parts of eastern Asia.[2]

The aroma of Litsea Cubeba is delightful for lifting and calming the spirit. It works wonders in skin care, particularly for oily and congested skin. Soap makers and candle crafters may appreciate the clean, long-lasting aroma and finer lemony complexity of Litsea as an alternative to Lemon, Lemongrass, Melissa, or Lemon Verbena.

Smells like lemongrass... Dissapointed

Rating

I really wanted to like this oil because it's a citrus note that lasts way longer than the others but to me, it smells exactly like lemongrass with a very mild fruit note almost hidden in the background. I've been buying from Eden for several months and they've always delivered excellent quality but this oil just does not fit the description. I have not tried other litsea cubeba oils and now I'm kinda hesitant to...

Underrated

Rating

I struggle to understand how little-used this great oil is! To me it brings to mind one having a big spoonful lemon sorbet- intense citrus with a slight breezey coolness. Another image brought to mind is that of sitting in lemon grove on a hot day with a refreshing breeze flowing through. This would be great to extend the life of a citrus based scent and it seems to add 'lift' and a subtle freshness to spice accords

Breathtaking!

Rating

If you could put a smile in a bottle, this delicious smelling oil would be the one to use. It has a bright, uplifting ,citrus aroma. I purchased this for my father in law who collects souvenirs from Viet Nam. He is a veteran of the Viet Nam war and has been experiencing health issues. I opened it and was surprised at how good it smelled,it was like walking into a candy store and I was definitely glad I chose it.
