Product Overview
Our Rose de Mai Concrète has the sweet, beautifully balanced aroma of fresh cut Roses. It lends a beautiful note to solid perfumes, and because of the high percentage of waxes, makes a fragrant and skin softening addition in skincare products.
A Concrète is the material from which an Absolute - the premiere ingredient for natural perfumery - is made. To make Rose Concrète (pronounced con- cret), first the Rose flowers are carefully picked to avoid damaging and bruising the delicate petals. This is very important to retain the scent. Next the flowers are immersed in a solvent (most often hexane) to remove the aromatic oil from the plant material. After the hexane evaporates what remains is a Concrète. Our Rose de Mai Concrète has a near-solid, waxy consistency and is soluble in oil and partially soluble in alcohol.
Concrète contain a rich amount of plant waxes and pigments and can have a consistency anywhere from soft semi-solid to solid hard wax. Although their aroma is less concentrated than an Absolute, they are still highly aromatic, and amazingly tenacious and long-lasting.
